The Last Cottage

  • Courthouse Arts Centre Dwyer Square Tinahely, County Wicklow, Ireland (map)

"How does it begin?

With the rain - dirty, wet rain.

With an eviction.

With a boy soon to be a man."

In July 1897 J M Synge visited Harney's cottage in Baravore, Glenmalure. In 1902 he wrote 'The Shadow of the Glen'.

'The Last Cottage' is a wild reimagining of the playwright’s visit to Glenmalure, inspired by his life, plays and time spent in the Wicklow hills.

Written by Cliona O'Connell, performed by Andrea Kelly.
