The Courthouse Arts Centre is situated in the heart of Tinahely village in the south of Wicklow. It has long been an important geographical landmark in the county and is a uniquely visible and valuable asset in the cultural landscape of south Wicklow, east Carlow and north Wexford. The venue offers comprehensive artistic and outreach programmes in an atmospheric and intimate space, hosting a wide variety of multi-disciplinary arts events and workshops. Our programme includes: Theatre, Dance, Music, Film, Visual Arts, Comedy, Literature and an Education/Outreach programme. We are committed to offering emerging artists a platform to showcase their work. We receive programme funding from the Arts Council and Wicklow County Council, salary funding from the Department of Social Protection managed by Pobal and staff support from a local community employment scheme.

 

Marketing/Production Manager - Job Description

 This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and motivated individual to implement the marketing and public relations strategy of the Courthouse Arts Centre while assisting in the management and effective co-ordination of the Courthouse creative space.  The role will be central to the encouragement of further community participation in the programme of the Courthouse Arts Centre.

 

·         Devising  marketing and public relations strategies for the effective communication of the Courthouse Arts Centre’s multi-disciplinary programme

·         Development of content in different forms and channels including copy, photographic and video content

·         To establish new and further develop  strategic relationships with local community groups in our Outreach programme to encourage greater participation from those most disadvantaged in the geographic reach of the Courthouse Arts Centre

·         Co-ordination of the Courthouse social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook

·         Working with Artistic Director in the development of governance and policy documents

·         To liaise with artist/performers and their agents prior to an events.

·         Development of a new Friends/Patron/Sponshorship Scheme

·         Ensure all artist requirements are adhered to pre-performance/pre-exhibition.

·         Ensure all health and safety requirements are adhered to by visiting companies and in-house staff in relation to fire safety, sound/lighting equipment and art installation equipment

·         Install art exhibitions in coordination with the artistic director.

·         Professionally wrap art works for collection by artist at the end of exhibition.

·         Prepare and wrap art for collection by buyers and liaise with box office team to ensure all works are paid for before leaving the building.

·         Liaise with the manager and other staff members to ensure a co-ordinated and efficient completion of all events from booking through to get-in/get-out.

·         Assist the artistic director in administration duties on fundraising ideas and develop commercial

·         Assist the caretaker from time to time with DIY repairs.

 

Other:-

·         Day Time: Front of House and reception duty required from time to time, generally be present and available to visitors, answer the phone, take bookings and light housekeeping 

·         Evening events: FOH meet and greet, including ushering.

·         Responding to any other duties assigned by the artistic director

 

 

Person Specification - What You Bring To The Role:

Experience & Qualifications

·         Appropriate training, academic qualification and/or relevant work experience.

·         One year’s experience in a marketing and/or public relations role

·         Excellent organisational and time management skills and the proven ability to multitask and work to tight deadlines.

·         Experience of policy documents and health and safety.

·         Experience with PR and marketing

·         Experience working with artists and their agents/management teams is useful

 

Skills

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Excellent writing skills

·         Experience of dealing with the public

·         Excellent and proven IT skills with knowledge of all Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, outlook, website updates, ticketing systems, online surveys and social media.

·         Ability to work as part of a small team and to flexible working hours

·         Confidence in public speaking  for duty management

 

Terms and conditions of employment

• The position is for a three year contract, subject to continued funding and includes a 6 month probationary period.

• This vacancy is being offered as job share position part-time of 18/75 hours per week exclusive of lunch. It is understood that at times you may be expected to work such hours as are necessary to support the workload in question including weekends.   Any hours worked over the contracted hours per week may be taken in lieu with prior agreement with the board.

• The position holds an entitlement of 20 days holiday per year, plus all public holidays.

Salary: Starting at €25,000 rising to €27, 600 pro rata after the probationary period of 6 months.
