e are delighted to announce our March date for The Courthouse Singing Sessions in association with Courthouse Arts Centre Tinahely. Join us on Zoom on Sunday 20th of March as we extend a big warm welcome to our special guest for the evening, Mairead Walls.
Mairéad is originally from Dunloy in Co. Antrim. She was taught to play traditional Irish music by renowned musician & singer, the late John Kennedy of Cullybackey. Mairéad plays the tin whistle and sings Irish traditional songs in English. She was awarded the ‘Keeper of the Tradition’ Award at the Ulster Traditional Singing Festival in 2011 and the ‘Contribution to Music Award’ at the Gig’n The Bann – Cross Cultural Music & Dance Festival in September 2018. Mairéad particularly loves and sings the traditional songs of Ulster and Antrim. She is the founding member of the group ‘Déanta’ and has just released her debut CD of music & song – Mairéad Walls Songs & Tunes from Co. Antrim.
Traditional Singer Rachel Uí Fhaoláin will present The Courthouse Singing Sessions on Zoom on Sunday 20th of March from 9pm - 11pm and the event will be live streamed on The Courthouse Arts Centre YouTube Channel
