South East Venue Network Artist Bursary
The South East Venue Network (SEVN): Courthouse, Tinahely, Co. Wicklow, Garter Lane, Waterford, Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, Wicklow, National Opera House, Wexford, Theatre Royal Waterford, Visual, Carlow, Watergate Theatre, Kilkenny and Wexford Arts Centre is seeking applications for a new South East Venue Network Artist Bursary Award funded by Arts Council Ireland.
This new bursary will provide much needed financial and network support to an artist based in South East Ireland whose art practice has been significantly impacted by COVID 19 restrictions. The SEVN network was established in 2019 as a support for the venues in the South East as well as to consider and develop opportunities to support artists collaboratively and for linkage with South East Venue communities and audiences. The arts sector has been significantly impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic as a consequence of which artists’ streams of already limited income became non-existent. The SEVN Artist Bursary Award aims to allow these venues to support an artist collaboratively.
The bursary exists for the benefit of the artist and to sustain arts development in the South East community, by assisting the artist to pursue his/her practice. The SEVN Artist Bursary Award is open to artists of all disciplines living in the South East region (Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wicklow and Wexford) who have presented/exhibited work in a professional context within the last 5 years. What the artist will receive in support: A €9,000 financial bursary to support art practice development over a year 2021/2022. The expected timeline runs between July 2021 to June 2022. Flexibility in timeline due to current COVID-19 restrictions will be allowed and required in line with bursary support. Support in-kind will be offered and will include - where relevant and possible - access to venue facilities, technical, management and communication support. Mentoring and promotion support for the artist and their art practice from SEVN network venues. What we will require from the artist as part of the bursary award: The ability to collaborate with and adapt to a flexible timeline for the bursary. Participation and delivery of interim reports for the evaluation of the bursary and budget in order to assess the impact of the bursary for the purpose of sharing information with stakeholders.
Participation in publicity of the SEVN bursary. Possible public engagement activity which may be in the form of an exhibition/workshop/performance/talk online and/or live to be agreed with SEVN Management.
