Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things) directs a triptych of surreal dark comedies. A man’s life falls apart after he pushes back on an order from his domineering boss. Another man takes extreme measures after becoming convinced his wife - recently rescued after being lost at sea - has been replaced by an imposter. And, finally, a woman who has abandoned her family for a cult is tasked with tracking down someone who has the power to resurrect the dead.
Returning to the bleak, deadpan style that defined his early features such as Dogtooth, Lanthimos offers up three-films-in-one with Kinds of Kindness. These are all strange, unsettling and darkly funny stories about people driven to commit bizarre acts of desperation or violence.
