The Courthouse Singing Sessions: November

Join us on Saturday November 20th for The Courthouse Singing Sessions with Courthouse Arts Centre in Tinahely. Our special guest on the night will be renowned Wexford traditional singer Paddy Berry.

Paddy Berry, a native of Scar, Duncormick, now living in Drinagh in Wexford has been involved in traditional song and music since the 1950’s. He is a renowned singer and song collector winning the prestigious All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Senior Ballad Singing competition in 1970 and again in 1976. He is a long serving member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and is the President of CCÉ Craobh Loch Garman. Paddy has recorded two albums of traditional ballads; ‘Sing us a song Paddy’ in 1999 and ‘Sing again Paddy’ in 2005. He has published two collections of Ballads entitled ‘Wexford Ballads’ (1982) and ‘More Wexford Ballads’ (1987) with a third collection being launched in Wexford on Sunday the 14th of November 2021. RTÉ 1 has a televised recording of Paddy singing in the old Yola dialect which has been much commented on. He is currently working with Comhaltas in their efforts to bring Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann to Wexford town in 2023/2024.

Traditional Singer Rachel Uí Fhaoláin will present The Courthouse Singing Sessions on Zoom on Saturday November 20th from 9pm -11pm and the event will be live streamed on The Courthouse Arts Centre YouTube Channel.
