Alison Bayne is an Irish artist from County Wicklow, working in oils. She lived for many years in Scotland where she had a number of exhibitions, and moved permanently back to Ireland in 2017. For the last four years she has focused primarily on landscape painting, inspired by the beauty of light reflected on water and on snow. This exhibition grew out of a particular love of the light at the end of the day ( and sometimes the beginning too), hence the title 'The Glimmering Landscape ', words plucked from the poem ' Elegy written in a Country Churchyard' by Thomas Gray. With apologies to the poet for lifting lines from two distinct verses, the theme running through this exhibition could not be described more beautifully than in the words :
'Now fades the glimm'ring landscape on the sight...and leaves the world to darkness and to me.'
