Mend and Make Do Presents The Mental

Fri Oct 5th | 8.30pm | €16/14

The Mental is the story of John Salter, who spent forty years in psychiatric care for doing a good deed. It takes place on the last day of April 1990, the day when John reaches the end of his fortieth year in the hospital and a time when patients were being reintegrated into the community. But John has no desire to leave the hospital – he has his jobs to do and who, he asks, will wake the crows in the morning and put them to bed at night if he’s not there.

The Mental is the third play in Mend & Makedo Theatre Company’s Barrow trilogy that began with Corner Boys and continued with Lucinda Sly. Written by John MacKenna. Directed by Angela Keogh. Lighting by Tom Kennedy.
